Elsie Jane Smith

Elsie Smith of Parksley, VA, passed away peacefully at the Shore Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 92.
She was born on October 25, 1933, on Tangier Island, Va. She was the youngest of five daughters born to Frank and Leslie Crockett.
She had been a member of Faith Baptist Church, Delmar, DE, for over 15 years, and her present church, Victory Tabernacle Church of God in Laurel, DE. She loved her church family and looked forward to worshiping with them as often as possible. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
She worked for various organizations, such as Salisbury Nursing Home as an aide, took care of mentally challenged men and women in her home, and picked crabs in Crisfield. She could always show her family how to get the most out of a crab.
Elsie enjoyed family dinners and would always make her famous corn pudding. Her favorite song was 'Amazing Grace". She started every day reading her bible and praying before breakfast. She also loved our dog Sadie. She was an active member of the 'Jesus Gang" at the Shore Rehabilitation Center. In her earlier years, she loved travelling with her husband in their motor home to various destinations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Smith, with whom she was married for 66 years. She is survived by two sons, Frank (Judy) Smith of Millsboro, DE, and Bob Smith of Salisbury, MD. She also had five grandchildren: Corey (Lisa) Johnson of Burlington, NC, Shaun (Michele) Smith of Waxahachie, TX, Lolita (Chris) Smith of Georgetown, DE, Tammy Johnson-Sturgis (Donte) of Millsboro, DE, and Frank (Phylicia) Smith of Millsboro, DE. She has a total of 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
