She was born in Ephrata to the late Ezra Z. and Ella N. (Hoover) Kilmer and was the wife of Alvin N. Zimmerman. They shared 6 years of marriage.
She was a member of South Fairmont Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference). Elsie worked as a laborer at Fairmount Homes.
In addition to her husband, Elsie is survived by three stepchildren, Rosene, wife of Nathan Shirk of Ephrata, Harlan, husband of Karen Zimmerman of Ephrata, Lois, wife of Dale Nolt of Honey Brook; 16 step grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; three sisters, Ada, wife of Steve Beiler of Lancaster, Edna Kilmer of Ephrata and Eva, wife of Nelson Fox of Memphis, MO.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the late residence, 254 Amishtown Road, New Holland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:30 PM, from the late residence, with further services at 2 PM, at the Groffdale Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Road, Leola, with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.
