Funeral services for Elvin Gene Lewis of Delhi, LA will be held at the Pentecost Tabernacle Church in Delhi at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025 with Pastor Shane Lester and Rev. Anthony Smithey officiating.
Visitation will be held at Pentecost Tabernacle on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:30 PM until time of service
Burial will be in the Faith Memorial Park Cemetery south of Delhi under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Hale, Jake Hale, Buddy Green, Lothar McDaniel, Kenneth Bell and Josh Odom.
Gene was born in Delhi on February 26, 1948 and went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 4, 2025.
He was a member of Pentecost Tabernacle in Delhi and was a man who loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Gene was a Tree-Cutter by profession
Gene was loved by his family, friends and community. He was a honest, hardworking man of his word who loved Jesus. Gene was a loyal father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.
He was a son's Hero. He taught his boys how to farm, cut concrete and the ins and outs of the tree business where his continues his legacy
Gene was a loving father to Leslie and a devoted husband to Helen. He loved his work and continued his passion as far as his body allowed.
He will be dearly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elva Shanton Lewis, wife Helen Leatrice Lewis, a granddaughter Alissa Smith and two brothers Joseph and Charles Tanner.
Gene is survived by two sons; Terry Lewis and wife Tracy and Elvin Lewis; a daughter Leslie Hale and husband Stacey; nine grandchildren, Victoria Kendle and husband Mike, Bethany Lewis, Garrett Lewis, Lane Lewis, Madilyn Grace Lewis, Hyland Sawer Lewis, Jake Hale and wife Brooke, Ethan Gammon and Emma Gammon; five great grandchildren, Adelyn Kendle, Gunner Kendle, Landry Hale, Kovan Bowyer and Kestyn Bowyer.
He is also survived by a sister Middiie Bell and several nieces and nephews.
