Elvin Guy Mitchell
Our loving Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and Uncle passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2022, surrounded by his family at Auberge Assisted Living in North Ogden, Utah.
Elvin was born September 28th, 1930, in Fillmore, Utah. The son of Guy Mitchell, Bernetta Nielsen and his Stepfather Wallace Muir. He graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah. After graduation he served honorably in the Korean War and then served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss Austria Mission.
Elvin married Marinda Wilcock on October 14th, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated with a teaching degree from Utah State University leading him to teach for the Box Elder School District. He spent his summers working for the Bureau of Land Management. He influenced many through his work in scouting, teaching, hunter safety and swimming and life-saving merit badges. He loved scouting and received his Silver Beaver Award.
Elvin and Marinda served several missions together for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They loved to travel together and visited many countries. Elvin taught his children and grandchildren honorable work ethic, the love of swimming, camping, hunting, shooting guns, skiing, reading, and above all else to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Elvin is preceded in death by his eternal companion Marinda Mitchell, parents and sisters Yvonne and Laurine.
Surviving are his children, Elvin Jeffery Mitchell (Colleen), Barbara Warren (Dahl), Scott Wilcock Mitchell (Robyn), Shauna Green (Mike). 15 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Nephew Mark Jennings and nieces Joleen Jennings and Jill Healey.
Our family would like to thank Jackie Ball at Auberge Assisted Living and her staff and the loving care of Hospice.
