Elvira (Vera) Quijada Moraga went to be with our Lord on April 22, 2024. She was home surrounded by her loved ones as she took her final breath. Elvira is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Fred S. Moraga, her children Fred E. Moraga, Carrie Moraga Ryan, Phil (Dawn) Moraga and Janie (Manny) Garcia, and her grandchildren Juliauna, Anthony, Andres, and Alexis. Her siblings Frank (Barbara) Quijada, Mercy (Steve) Ronquillo, Janie (Rick) Sanchez, Roque (Roberta) Quijada, and George Quijada Sr. She had many godchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family who she loved as her own! She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Mercedes Quijada, her sisters Sylvia Bracamonte and Ofelia Olivas, and her sister-in-law Stella Earven. Elvira was born in Tiger, Arizona and raised in Mammoth, Arizona. She was a graduate from San Manuel High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Fred Moraga. They married on December 15, 1962. After graduating high school she went to Cosmetology School. They lived at the 3-C Ranch in Oracle, AZ. In 1964 they moved to San Manuel, AZ. On February 14, 1969 they picked up and moved to Sahuarita Arizona. Elvira worked at several beauty salons in Green Valley, Arizona and eventually opened her own salon “Vera’s Beauty Salon.” She was very active in the Copper Hills little league, Sahuarita High School booster club and The Altrusa Business Women’s league. Vera was involved in all four kids activities. Her hobbies included, fishing in the White Mountains, gardening, bowling and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her NFL football games and watching Days of Our Lives. In 1989, Vera joined her husband, Fred in Lovelock, Nevada, where Vera worked as a clerk for several mining companies and then became a bank teller. In 2005 they moved back to Sahuarita and she spent her days working at National Bank of Arizona, until she retired. She spent her retired years supporting her grandchildren in all their schooling and activities. Vera was loved by many and was a mother figure to most. She was very strong in her Catholic faith and helped serve at her church as a Eucharistic Minister. She would always end the day by praying the rosary. She will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and San Judas Adult Care Center.
