Chico dedicated over 30 years of his life to the telephone company, where he worked as a fiber optics technician. His expertise contributed significantly to the early development of fiber optics, a source of pride for him throughout his career. His educational journey began at Pueblo High School, from which he graduated in 1968, notable for both his achievements in academics and his time as a wrestler.
Following high school, Chico served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was honored to be selected as a protector for President Nixon. His service included safeguarding the capital against the protests that marked that tumultuous era. Chico held his military service close to his heart, and it remains one of his proudest accomplishments.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Chico enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, camping, and traveling across Europe. His passion for technology led him to enjoy fidgeting with gadgets, including remote control cars and drones, reflecting both his playful nature and his keen interest in innovation. Chico's sense of humor and loving disposition made him an amazing person, cherished by all who knew him.
Chico leaves behind his devoted wife, Caroline Bernal, and his children, Thomas L. Fraijo (Alyssa), Marisa Rodriguez (Fernando), and Francisco (Mary Lou) Fraijo. He is also survived by his step-daughter Monique Cameron Carley (Nichole) and grandchildren Ethan, Owen, Christian, Charlotte, Maria Christina, Teagan, and Kelby. In addition, he is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Gilbert, Betty, Rosemary, Terry, and Eddie.
Chico was preceded in death by his step-son, Hector Carlos Valenzuela. His family and friends will gather to celebrate his life with a memorial service at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, Arizona, on September 15, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM.
