Elwood T. Claar, 92, of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday October 7, 2025, at UPMC-Altoona. He was born July 29, 1933, in Claysburg, son of the late Jesse and Goldie (Dively) Claar. He married Patricia Burket on August 19, 1957, in Winchester, VA. She passed away on April 21, 2013.
Surviving are 3 sons Elwood Jr. and wife Deborah, Scott, and wife Deborah, all of Duncansville, Steven and wife Jackie of Bellwood, a daughter Tracey Shoop and husband Joseph of Hollidaysburg, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a sister Rhea Acker and husband James of Claysburg. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Harold and Dale Claar.
Elwood was a member of the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, severing during the Korean War.
He was a self-employed contractor, retiring in 1992.
Elwood was a member of the Duncansville VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and watching the Pirates and Steelers.
Friends will be received from 2-5 P.M. on Sunday October 12, 2025, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday October 13, 2025, at the Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Mark Wyland officiating. Interment at Upper Claar Cemetery.
