Elwood Houser Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." – Psalm 116:15
Elwood Guy Houser, Jr., 91, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2025. Because of his faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Elwood is now at perfect peace, fully restored and whole. No more suffering, no more limitations, no more pain-only complete healing, joy, and reunion with loved ones who have gone before him, including his youngest son, Guy.
Those who remain feel his absence deeply. His empty chair at family gatherings will be a tender reminder of the love and laughter he shared. Yet even in sorrow, the family grieves with hope, trusting in the promise of eternal life. As Scripture reminds us with quiet comfort: "Jesus wept." (John 11:35)
Elwood was a strong, steadfast, and godly man-tough when needed, yet endlessly kind and generous. He was warm-hearted, wise, and deeply invested in the lives of his family and friends. His humor, often unintentional, brought joy to those around him.
He lived a life of service-to his God, his family, and his country.
The Lord blessed Elwood with 68 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Lou (Macklen) Houser. Together they built a legacy of love, faith, and family. He is survived by his children: Forrest Houser (Ruth), Bruce Houser (Denise), Scott Houser (Diane), and Sara Ruth Fair (Keith); his ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and his sisters-in-laws, Patricia Macklen, Kathleen Futrell. He was preceded in death by his son, Elwood Guy Houser III and his brother, the late William Houser (Elouise).
In God's kindness, Elwood was able to celebrate both his bride's 88th birthday and their 68th wedding anniversary within the past three weeks.
One of Elwood's favorite hymns was "His Eye Is on the Sparrow." Today, because Jesus was his portion, Heaven is truly his home.
In recognition of his years of service in the United States Air Force, Elwood will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in a private ceremony. A memorial service celebrating his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Brittany Pointe Estates, located at 1001 S Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has chosen to send donations to Colontown. Colontown is supported by the PALTOWN Development Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization. EIN: 81-4532089
