Emery Duane Hobelman was born on August 30, 1927 rural Republic KS near Byron NE to Albert F. and Irene M. (Bostelmann). He departed this life on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years. Emery was bapized on September 11, 1927 by Pastor Wagner at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Byron NE. Diedrich Abelbach and George Bostelmann were his sponsors. Confirmed May 3, 1942 by Pator Paul J. Weltner at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Bryon NE. Bible Verse was II Peter 3:18 "Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Emery spent his life in the auto repair business as well as manager of service departments. He received numerous awards from General Motors for outstanding leadership. Emery's military service was spent in the US Army as a Basic Instructor. Retirement years he spent restoring classic cars, pickups and tractors of the past. January 4, 1946, Emery married Ruth E. Topliff and into this union were born 5 girls Mary, Betty, Patti, Peggy, Pam. Emery is proceded in death by his parents, sister Eunice Piepho Pittack, brother Kenneth Hobelman and grandson Jon Erickson. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth of Superior, NE; daughters Mary Shrontz of Superior, NE, Betty Hobelman of Lovewell, KS; Patti (Bill) Vice of Omaha, NE; Peggy (Kurt) Saathoff of Waterloo, NE; Pam Sandman of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren. sister Denelda (Paul) Edwards of Hardy, NE; brother Gene (Deb) Hobelman of Lincoln, NE; and many family and friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday 10:30 AM, June 20, 2013 at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. Pastor Brian S. Earl will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Fairview Cemetery, Jewell County, Kansas. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.
