Emery Lee Wallace Jr., affectionately known as "Butch," "Uncle Butchie," and "E," is the firstborn of the late Emery Wallace Sr. and Salome Wallace. He was born on November 8, 1951, in
Miami, Florida, and is the eldest of five children. Emery was among the first African American children to live in Richmond Heights. He received his elementary education at Frank C Martin Elementary School; he also attended Mays Jr. High School for his middle school education. Emery was among the first African American students to integrate into Killian High School. He was in the graduating class of 1968, making a true pioneer and Richmond Heights legend. Directly after high school, Emery enlisted in the United States Navy. When Emery returned home, he completed two years of college at Miami-Dade Junior College, ironically so he would attend college classes with his mother, the late Salome Wallace. He was a chess champion and trained some of his nieces and nephews to be young Chess champions. Emery was an exceptional artist with a god-given gift of creativity and artistic expression. Emery would go on to complete vocational training and receive a welding certification. In his most recent years, he enjoyed landscaping until his health declined. Emery Jr. was a proud member of the Second Baptist Church of Richmond Heights. In 1977, Emery Jr. married Linda Jones; this union created two beautiful boys, Antwan and Emery III. Emery Jr. shared a special bond with his Aunt Margret Cruz, fondly known as "Molly." Although she did not birth him, and he had a very present mother, they still shared a "mother and son" relationship until the day she died. Emery Junior was best known for his calm, laid-back demeanor and no-nonsense attitude. It was a known fact that the buck stopped with "Butch." Emery Jr. shared unbreakable bonds with his many nieces, nephews, siblings, friends, and loved ones. He always had time to answer a question and help solve a problem, and he always had a listening ear. On May 17, 2025, Emery Jr. peacefully transitioned to his eternal rest; his loved ones celebrate the fact that he will be at peace with his creator and miss him dearly. Preceded in death is his mother, the late Salome Wallace; his father, Emery Wallace Jr.; his younger sister, Vanessa Maultsby; Aunt Margret Cruz; and great-niece Ni'Kiyah Hudson He leaves two sons, Antwan T.
