Emil Ross Helmuth, 91, of rural Rushsylvania, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at his home.

Emil was born on February 6, 1934, to the late Harvey Raymond and Katie Mae (Miller) Helmuth. He was also preceded in death by a son Jonathan Helmuth; brother Leo David Helmuth, and sisters and their husbands: Mabel and Jonas Miller, Marie and Bill Miller; a granddaughter Emily Helmuth; and great-grandson Marcus Edward Wanner.

Emil is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edna J. (Slabaugh) Helmuth, whom he married on November 1, 1956. Born to this union were 8 children, seven surviving: Ernest (Virginia Wanner) Helmuth of Wallingford, Kentucky, Edith (Edward) Wanner of Reed City, Michigan, Nancy (Enos) Troyer of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Norma (Joe) Miller of Lyons, Indiana, Kathryn (Reuben) Swarey of Mannsville, New York, Harlen (JoAnna Coblentz) Helmuth of Amesville, Ohio, Marvin (Nancy Yoder) Helmuth of Rushsylvania, Ohio; daughter-in-law Lora (Yoder) Helmuth of Salem, Indiana; 55 grandchildren; 132 great-grandchildren; a brother Olin (Alma) Helmuth of Shipshewana, Indiana; a sister Ruby Yoder of Archbold, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emil was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church.

Bishop David Yoder will officiate Emil’s funeral service on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 9am at Emil’s residence, 9195 US 68 North, Rushsylvania, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, from 6-8pm, and Tuesday, November 4, from 2-4 & 6-8pm, at the residence. Burial will be in Belle Center Amish Cemetery.
