Emily Lee Metcalf, age 71, of Homerville, transitioned peacefully from this world on the morning of September 24, 2025, at her residence, following a brief illness. Born in Valdosta to the late Grover Columbus "G.C." and Hazel Emily Mobley Lee, Emily's life was a testament to warmth and an enduring spirit.
A proud graduate of the University of North Florida, she dedicated many years to the noble profession of teaching, contributing her talents to both the Nassau County and Clinch County School Systems. For a significant part of her life, Emily resided in Fernandina Beach, where she owned and operated Emily's Boutique on Centre Street. During those years, she was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Woman's Club, as well as a devoted member of the First Baptist Church. In 2007, she returned to DuPont and continued her spiritual journey at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
A lifelong member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Emily cherished her heritage and community involvement. Her passions included baking and cooking, joyous moments spent by the beach, and treasured gatherings with her family. She was renowned for her enthusiastic personality, always eager to lend a helping hand, and cherished for her ability to connect with anyone she met.
Emily is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, William D. Metcalf of DuPont; her sons, Bryan Luke (wife Bethany) of Yulee, FL, and Adam Metcalf of Valdosta; her daughter, Caroline Metcalf (Ryan Rich) of Fernandina Beach, FL; and her five precious grandchildren, Emma Luke, Rhett Luke, Brantley Luke, Brylee Luke, and Grover Rich, Wyatt Rich. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Lee (wife Dolly) and David Lee, both of DuPont, as well as her treasured nieces and nephews, Jennifer Deloach, Josh Lee, Dayton Lee, and Lindsey Lee.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Austin Deloach. Interment will follow at North Cemetery in DuPont.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
