Emily A. Utterback

1938 – 2026

Emily Ann (Akey) Utterback, 87, of Cameron, passed away peacefully, February 13, 2026. She was born to Orrin G. and Ethel L. (Stewart) Akey on the family farm in Cameron, Missouri.

Emily attended the High Prairie rural school and later graduated from Cameron High School class of 1955. She was active in school plays, speech contest and home economics.

Emily attended the First Christian Church in Cameron, where she met her faithful husband, John Utterback. They were married August 21,1960. She was very active in church work, serving as chairman of many committees and attended women's groups. She and her husband were youth sponsors for many years.

Emily was previously employed at Fosters Feed Store, Mode O'Day and Dairy Dream. She and her husband and daughter catered for over 25 years. She also worked at the Plant Place in the flower shop for several years.

Emily, John and Shelley enjoyed traveling together and took several trips in their camper with friends. They also took a big trip to Fairford England, where John had been stationed when he was in the Air Force. They also went to Ireland and kissed the Blarney Stone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; 6 brothers, Olin, Eugene, Allen, Dave, Bill, Bob; sister, Caroline; several nieces and nephews.

Emily is survived by daughter, Shelley of Cameron; many nieces and nephews; lots and lots of friends.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Cameron Schools or the Cameron Food Pantry.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, Missouri. Visitation, 1:00-2:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn, Missouri.
