Emley Jane Hallgarth Sensing (87), beloved mother and one who cherished her family dearly, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 25, 2025. Emley was born in Brookville, Indiana, on May 11, 1938, to parents Martha and John Henson. She was the eldest of five children: Betty McFarland, Carolyn Fuesler, Bill Henson, and Glenda Henson. In 1958, Emley married Jackie Jeanne Hallgarth in Anderson, Indiana, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage and raised two children, Jay Hallgarth and Jody Lee Miller. She later married Jerry Sensing, with whom she spent ten years before his passing. Emley found companionship once more with Jim Teeters in 2017. Emley worked in city utilities, served as a courthouse office manager, and was a dedicated Democratic committee woman. She will be remembered as a warm and loving woman of faith—as a civil servant, gardener, prankster, and great-grandmother.
Emley is reunited with her son, Jay, and her siblings Carolyn, Billy, and Glenda, who all passed before her. She is survived by her sister, Betty; her daughter, Jody; and her beloved grandchildren. Jody lives with her husband, Michael Eric Miller, and their two children, Michael and Anna. Jay is remembered through his wife, Ruth Fisher Hallgarth, their three children—Grace Gunderson, Jason Hallgarth, and James Andrew Hallgarth—and their grandchildren, Forest and Humphrey Gunderson.
