With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Emma Lee Clark of Abingdon, Virginia, on February 17, 2026.

Born and raised in the beautiful mountain state of West Virginia, Emma grew up alongside her parents and her two sisters, Joyce and Gay.

Emma spent much of her young adult life in Northern Virginia with her beloved husband, Riley, and their four children — Steve, Meg, Willy, and Pat. Those years were filled with school activities, sports, community events, and countless friendships that lasted a lifetime. She was deeply involved in her community, volunteering with the women’s club, the local library, and many other organizations while raising her family that resulted in many lifelong friendships.

As her children grew older, Emma began a successful career in real estate (#1 Loudoun County Lister for 5 years). With her bright smile, natural charm, and sharp intelligence, she quickly excelled, becoming a respected Sales Broker at two firms. She took great pride not only in her professional accomplishments but in the relationships she built and the families she helped along the way.

In retirement, Emma and Riley returned to his childhood hometown of Abingdon, Virginia. There, she once again built a vibrant and meaningful life. She became active in DAR, bunco, book club, golf club, Methodist church bible study, and Republican Women. She and Riley were blessed with extraordinary neighbors, dear friends, and, in recent years, devoted caregivers who walked beside them through both joyful and challenging times.

Emma was known for her wit, generosity, intelligence, deep faith, kindness, and genuine care for others. She loved reading, walking, politics, golf, music, theater, art, movies, and — most of all — connecting with people. Conversation with Emma was always engaging and memorable.

She is survived by three of her children and their spouses, six grandchildren and spouses, seven great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A celebration of her life will be held on May 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Abingdon United Methodist Church.

Emma will be deeply missed and forever loved.
