Emma Jean Gamble of Midway, Florida peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 27, 2025, at age 88.Jean was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Charles Wilburn Gamble; her beloved parents, William Marvin Davis and Dessie Dimple Hunt; her dear brothers Lowell Wayne Davis, Sr. and Harold Lee Davis, and sister, Christine Davis Brandon.
Her legacy of love lives on through her beautiful family; four children, Jacky Dale Gamble (wife Kimberly Gamble), Gregory Marvin Gamble (wife Gege Gamble), Debbie Diane Johnson, and Bobbie Sellers; six grandchildren, Joy Bell Strickland (husband Scott), Jennifer Anne Gamble, Blake Dalton (wife Janie), Joshua Gamble, Bradley Johnson (wife Danielle), and Brandi Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Joel Strickland (wife Elizabeth), Lily Strickland, Cheyenne Heatherly, Brett Heatherly, Reeva Gamble, Katie Strickland, Dwight Wray and Adalyn Dalton; her devoted sisters Shirley Ann Wieland and Alice Faye Ross.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her faith in the Baptist church was unwavering and she faithfully attended church services at Bible Believers Church.
Jean was born on August 27, 1937 in Haleburg, Alabama. After graduating from Newville High School in 1956 she moved to Tallahassee, Florida and went on to work for the State of Florida, Department of Education, until she retired in 1995.After retirement, she found joy in the simple pleasures- arts and crafts, sewing, quilting, jewelry making, fishing and spending quality time with her family and loved ones. She will always be remembered for making the most delicious homemade biscuits and tomato gravy. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives and her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her memory will forever be a guiding light to those she loved. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Faith Funeral Home and Crematory with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory in Dothan, Alabama.
