Emma Jean Redick Gilbert, age 91, entered her heavenly home on February 6, 2024. She was born at Beryl, Arkansas to James Frank Redick and Nora Amanda Hilliard Redick. She was married to J.D. Gilbert for 56 years prior to his passing.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. Gilbert; brothers, Lloyd Redick, Raymond Redick, Clarence Redick, Johnny Redick, Charles Redick, Cecil Redick, Harrell Redick, Darrell Redick and an infant brother; sisters, Minnie O’Quin and Mamie Allen and son-in-law, Tommy Talbert.
Mom was a hard worker and made sure her girls were provided for. After retiring from sewing factory work, Mom loved to piece quilts. She was a wonderful seamstress. Sewing was a joy.
She was very happy fashioning her quilt tops, making them ready for quilting. Mom loved her family. She was all about her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing pleased her more than having all the family at her house for a Sunday dinner and all the noise that went with it. With every new addition to the family, either by marriage or birth, Mom’s heart opened up, welcoming all into the family.
Mom loved the Lord and was a member of Ward First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Sara Talbert and Barbara Sullivan (Con); grandchildren, Larry Talbert (Amy), Christy Williford (John) and John Sullivan; great grandchildren, Ryan Talbert, Eric Talbert, Abby Williford and Hannah Williford; great-great grandchildren, Adelita Gann, Casious Gann and Arya Gann; sister Martha Waters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emma’s celebration of life service will be Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Ward First Baptist Church with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Cabot, Arkansas.
Anyone that wishes can make a donation in her memory to Ward First Baptist Church or Gideons International.
