Emma Joyce James

Mrs. Emma Joyce James, age 84, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Georgia. She was born on August 8, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Royce Bagley and Ruth Elrod Bagley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ricko B. James.
Mrs. James was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. A faithful Christian, she loved the Lord deeply and lived out her faith each day. She was a longtime member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in McDonough, where her quiet strength, kindness, and servant's heart were evident to all who knew her.
Mrs. James was a wonderful caregiver and homemaker, pouring her life into caring for those she loved. She was the best mom, an even better grandmother, and an exceptional great-grandmother, cherishing each generation with grace and unconditional love. Her legacy of faith, family, and selfless devotion will live on in the lives she so beautifully touched.
She leaves behind her children, Vanessa McBrayer, Donna (Kerry) Garrison, Paul (Lori) James, Hannah (Kevin) Garrison, and Mark (Andrea) James; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; loving brother, Royce Bagley; and a host of extended family and friends.
A service to honor Mrs. James' life will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, beginning 1:00 PM, at Pinecrest Baptist Church, 175 Foster Drive, McDonough, GA 30253. Interment will follow the service at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
