Glenn Whitaker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors - East Chapel on Mar. 3, 2026.
Mr. Glenn Martin Whitaker, age 83, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away on February 27, 2026 at his home. He was born on September 22, 1942 in Tennille, Georgia, the son of the late Sam Whitaker and Mamie Wilcher Whitaker, and was preceded in death by brother Dave Whitaker and sisters Betty Jeffries, Nell Giles and Ann Thomas. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Linda Sue Whitaker, son Brian Rogers, daughter Brooke Isbert, sisters Gloria Waller and Patti Lindsey, nieces, nephews, and 10 much beloved grandchildren.

Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and faithful servant of the Lord. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in service, Scripture, and steadfast love. Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying with him the discipline, integrity, and quiet strength that would define the rest of his life. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career with Delta Air Lines until his retirement in 1994 and then worked at E.L. Johnston Auto Parts in College Park, GA, until 2017.

Glenn served 25 years in the Bus Ministry at Pinecrest Baptist Church, Morrow, GA, and Lake City Baptist Church in Lake City, GA. In recent years, he has served as the Sunday School teacher for 4th-5th grade boys at Henry Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. For more than 25 years, he poured his heart into generations of young boys who grew into men under his patient guidance, shaped by his deep knowledge of God's Word and his unwavering commitment to teaching biblical truth. He did not simply teach lessons, he planted seeds of faith that will continue to bear fruit for years to come.

Glenn was known for always carrying index cards in his pocket with scriptures he had written down, ready to share with anyone who might need encouragement. Whether in a hospital room, a grocery store aisle, or a vigorous conversation after church, he shared the Word freely and faithfully. He believed Scripture was active and alive, and he lived as though every encounter was an opportunity to remind someone of God's promises. With a life marked by consistency, humility, and devotion, Glenn loved well, served faithfully, and stood firm in his belief that God's Word was the foundation for everything. He will be remembered not only by what he said, but how he lived.

Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that the man who spent his life teaching others about Heaven is now rejoicing there! His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the boys he mentored, the scripture cards he shared, and the faith he so boldly proclaimed.

A service to honor Glenn's life will be held at noon on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Henry Baptist Church, 4035 Jodeco Road, McDonough, GA 30253, with family receiving friends at the church at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Stefan and Jenny Bacioiu to support their mission work in Romania, by visiting https://give.abwe.org/worker/jenny-okelley.
