Emma Lou "Em" Majewski passed away peacefully on March 30 surrounded by her daughters. She was born in Evansville on October 7, 1930, to James and Brunhilde Roach. She called Evansville home except for a few years she lived in San Francisco.
Em was a true friend and was faithful and dedicated to those in her life. She loved the Lord Jesus and as a loving mother and wife, she always put family first. She was a great storyteller, passing down many interesting and often humorous tales to her children and grandchildren. She was active in her community and served on several boards and committees over the years including Stringtown School PTA, Memorial High School Alumni & Friends, Junior League of Evansville, and Evansville Area Catholic High Schools.
She graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1948 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St Mary's of Notre Dame in 1952. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and worked as a medical technologist at Welborn Clinic for many years.
As an avid gardener, she was happiest working in the yard. She also loved camping, playing bridge, and traveling. As a couple, she and Bob enjoyed many adventures traveling to six of the seven continents in their retirement. Em loved a good margarita and also enjoyed her own bourbon concoction, the "Emmy Lou".
Emma Lou and Robert met on a blind date in 1960, were married in 1961, and lived to enjoy their 58th wedding anniversary. They had three daughters, Susan Hargett of Evansville, Anne Dailey of Fishers, IN, and Jennifer Holt (Tim) of Raleigh, NC. She also enjoyed her five grandchildren Sarah Vlink (David), Melissa Roberts (John), Olivia Bessant (Zach), Lauren Yanez (Angel), and Calvin Holt. She also was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Aidan Roberts, Henry Roberts, and Wyatt Bessant, and six nieces and nephews. Emma Lou has joined her husband, Robert, parents Jim and Brunhilde Roach, brother Jim Roach, son-in-law, David Dailey, cousins Jim and Charlie Manion, and cherished friends who have gone before her.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2nd at Ziemer Funeral Home North, 6300 N. First Avenue, Evansville. There will be time for reflection and sharing memories at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 3rd at Sts.
