Emma Jean Wright

Emma Jean Wright was born on October 18, 1941, in Blackshear, GA to the late James and Mary Wright. Jean graduated from Wayne County Training School, Jesup, GA. After graduating from high school, she attended the T.C. Williams Vocational College and later pursued a career in law enforcement. She was employed by the Brunswick Police Department for Thirty Years.

She was a long-standing member of Mose Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Screven, GA under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Zachary. Jean transitioned from this life into life eternal on Friday, March 13, 2026 at home. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Brinton Wright, Sr., and Clinton Wright, both parents James Wright, Sr. and Mary Wright. Four brothers, Eddie Wright, Sr., James Wright, Jr., Joseph Wright and Donald Wright. One sister Elizabeth Tisdale.

She leaves to cherish her memory; five sisters, Elnora Edmondson of Jesup, GA, Lillie Lane of Durham, NC., Bobbie Wright of Brunswick, GA, Jacqueline Wright of Screven, GA and Chyrell George of Easthampton, MA. Three brothers, Charles Wright of Waycross, GA, Lawrence Wright of New Castle, DE and Kelton Wright of Snellville, GA, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Five sisters-in-law; Lula Wright of Feeding Hills, MA, Ora Lee Wright of Waycross, GA, Mary Linda Wright of New Castle, DE, Linda Wright of Brunswick, GA and Dorothy Wright of San Diego, CA. One brother-in-law, Robert George, Easthampton, MA, One Aunt Marjoria Manning of Jacksonville, FL, One Uncle Thomas Jenkins San Antionio, TX, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and

friends.

There will not be a wake/visitation on Friday. Remains will lie in state 2 hours prior to services on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 @ 12:00 noon at Mose Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 412 Brown Street, Screven GA 31560.

Interment in the Screven Community Cemetery, 3803 Odum Screven Rd., Screven GA 81560.

There will not be a repast, but the family will gather at Family Tradition Restaurant at 997 Sunset Blvd, Jesup, GA.
