On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, called home one of His beloved daughters, Loretta (Frazier) Ryals. She passed away peacefully at Memorial Medical Hospital in
Savannah, GA, after an extended illness.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" - Psalm 116:15
Loretta Frazier-Ryals was born November 26, 1955 to the late Alfonzo and Maggie Vail Frazier in Wayne County, Georgia. She lived in Wayne County all of her life and was educated in the Wayne County Public School System. Loretta was a faithful member of Greater St. James Temple of the Apostolic Faith in Screven, GA.
In her young adult life, Loretta worked as a cook at several different food restaurants. She was known both near and far as "Rett," and was called "Aunt Rett" by most of her younger cousins in the family. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends. Rett was well-known throughout the community and will certainly be missed by all.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Joseph of 41 years, her eldest son, Steven Frazier, (4) sisters: Bessie Doomes, Louise Evans, Viola Patterson, Margaret Jenkins Frazier; (4) brothers: Alfonzo Frazier, Jr., John Henry Patterson, Aaron Patterson, and Donnell Frazier.
She leaves to cherish her memories: (4) children: Kendra (Joe) Turner, Elisa Ryals, Joseph Ryals, Jr., Joseph Lashon Ryals, and a special son, Kennin Burns (great nephew); (6) Grandchildren: Korsica Arrington, Quinton Frazier, Keyontae Arrington, Paige Milledge, Ka'mirion Arrington, Darrion Arrington; (7) Great Grands: Patrick Lanier, Peyton Lanier, Prince Lanier, Parker Lanier, Karriona Frazier, Kaleb Smith, Kylie Lanier; one beloved sister and forever friend, Patsy Dixon - all of Screven, GA. Loretta also leaves to mourn her loving in-laws: Linda (Eddie) Marcus,
Jesup, GA; Renee Holland, Atlanta, GA; Hazel Green,
Jesup, GA; Susie Grierson & Jean Emery (?), both of Dayton, OH; best friend, Patricia Roberts; dear friends, Florene Wilson & Eric Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The light of who she was to all, will be greatly missed.
There will not be a wake/visitation. Her remains will lie in state from 12:00 noon until time of service on Thursday.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 @ 2:00 PM at Greater St. James Temple, 535 White Star Road, Screven, Ga. 31560.
Interment in the Screven Cemetery, Screven, GA.
Repast will be held at New Bethel Life Changing Ministries, 521 Brown St., Screven, GA 31560.
