Nathaniel Redmon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Royal Funeral Home, Inc. - Jesup on Mar. 8, 2026.
Nathaniel Redmon, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 05, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on January 17, 1947 to the late, George and Lillian Thomas-Redmon in Traders Hill, Ga. (Charlton County). Nathaniel was affectionately known as "Pop Pop" by his grandson and "Wood Hog" by his fellow coworkers in the woods, was a joy to be around, even though he rarely heard what you were saying because of his hearing impairment, he always greeted you with a great big smile and an occasional fist bump to your arm. If he did that to you, it meant he cared about you.

Nathaniel was a faithful member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his decline in health. He served on the finance committee, usher board and the male chorus. He was also a member of the Euclid Masonic Lodge #169. In his free time, Nathaniel enjoyed mechanic work on vehicles and gardening. He served his country after joining the US Army, serving a tour in Vietnam and after he returned home, he was employed at Humphry Mining Company, Union Camp Lumber yard and Redmon Logging.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by both parents, George and Lillian Redmon, his sister, Margarette Redmon, his brothers, Joseph Redmon, Bobby Redmon, Jessie Redmon and Michael Redmon.

Those left to cherish his memory: his loving wife of (53) years, Shirley Brown-Redmon, Folkston, Ga.; his only child, Nathaniel Redmon, Jr. (Wanda), Kingsland, Ga.; his grandson, Jaden "J J" Redmon, Kingsland, Ga.; his bonus grandchildren, Page, Harry Jr. and Nolan Martin, Sr.; bonus great grandchildren, Christian Brown, Carter Spann, Harmony Martin, Nolan, Jr., Jordan Martin and Harlen Martin; his sisters, Lillie P. Redmon and Debra Redmon, both of Folkston, Ga.; his brothers, Vandell Redmon, Sr. (Freddie), Folkston, Ga., Carroll Redmon (Lena), California and Tony Redmon, Sr. (Darlene), Hinesville, Ga.; his sisters-in-law, Diane Redmon, Folkston, Ga., Jackie Howard, Jesup, Ga., Pamela Brown, Angel Redmon and Terra Redmon, all of Folkston, Ga.; a brother-in-law, George Anthony Thomas (Sandra), New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will certainly miss his presence. He will forever be remembered for the kind person that he was.
