Emmanuel Rogers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 1, 2025.
Emmanuel Jermaine Rogers was born on Tuesday, September 11, 1979, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the first-born child of Joseph Rogers (1943–2022) and Vanita Magee Rogers (1948–2011).
Emmanuel attended John Dibert Elementary and Rabouin Middle School before graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1998. His deep love for music blossomed during his time at Warren Easton, evolving into a lifelong passion. Emmanuel was dedicated to sharing this love, encouraging anyone who wished to play an instrument to pick it up and embrace the joy of music. His commitment extended beyond his own growth as a musician-he dedicated much of his time to helping others.
In New Orleans, Emmanuel mentored students at Joseph S. Clark High School and George Washington Carver High School under the guidance of Mr. John Summers. When Hurricane Katrina forced many to evacuate, Emmanuel and his family relocated to Greenville, Mississippi. There, he quickly became involved with the Greenville High School band, working with Mr. Brooks. Emmanuel not only contributed his musical talents but also organized several memorable trips for the band, including performances in New Orleans for Mardi Gras parades and at local churches, including Nineveh Baptist Church and Christian Unity Baptist Church.
Even on vacation, Emmanuel's love for music never wavered. He joined the Band of Excellence (BOE), led by his close friend Brandon Hansel, where his musical gifts continued to shine.
Emmanuel was also a devoted member of Christian Unity Baptist Church for many years. It was there that he formed a special bond with Hezekiah Brinson and the Seven Positive Males (7PM), a group that exemplified brotherhood and positive influence.
Emmanuel was known for his loving, caring nature and his ability to show understanding and support to everyone he encountered. He leaves behind two beloved children: Irie and Gabriel Rogers (and their mother, Tiquonna Lambert). He is also survived by his sister, Laurena Rogers Francois (and brother-in-law, Desmond Francois Sr.); brother, Stephen Rogers; two nephews, Desmond Francois Jr. and Devin Francois; one niece, Diamond Francois; along with a host of uncles, aunts, extended family, and loving friends.
Though Emmanuel will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through his love of music and the countless lives he touched along the way. He believed in the power of music to uplift and connect, and his contributions will continue to resonate for years to come.
