Emmett Eugene "Pat" Harper, Jr., 84, of Port Neches passed away on May 4, 2024. He was born October 3, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Emmett "Mike" and Vivian Harper.
He loved the Lord, and he was a Deacon and member of Hillcrest Baptist Church Nederland, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a graduate of Lamar University with a master's degree in mechanical engineering; National Guard; and retired from Unocal 76 refinery San Francisco, California in 1998. Emmett had a contagious laugh. He loved the outdoors along with hunting and fishing. Enjoyed working with computers. He also loved taking R.V. trips with his beloved wife, Millie.
Survivors include son, Ricky Dale Harper; grandchildren, Brandon Harper and his wife, Lisa D.; Shawn Harper; Shayna Harper and her fiancé, Pete Roche; Halasi Matt and her husband, Colton; Makaley Halliburton and her husband, Dillan; Johnika Seals and her husband, Louis; John Paul Sanders and his wife, Brittney; Joshua Sanders and his wife, Felicia; great-grandchildren, Logan; Cason; Gavin; Cohen; Elliot; Zachary; Alex; Hayden; Jayden; Jillian; Claire; Jordan; Grayson; Valerie; and James; daughter-in-law, Lisa M. Harper and her fiancé, Gary King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett "Mike" and Vivian Harper; brother, Billy Wayne Harper; beloved wife of 62 years, Millie Ruth Harper; sons, Michael Eugene Harper and Mark Wayne Harper; and daughter-in-law, Josie Harper.
A gathering of Mr. Harper's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3324 Park Drive, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
