Emmett Kirkland

Henry Emmett Kirkland, 95 of Auburn, AL passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 9, 2025.
Emmett was born on December 22, 1929 in Crenshaw County, AL. The son of Henry and Emma Bell Kirkland.
Emmett graduated from Straughn High School in 1948, then went on to college at Troy State College and Auburn University (Alabama Polytechnic Institute). He earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1954.
Emmett joined the Army National Guard in February 1948 and served until Honorably discharged in February 1952.
Emmett married Edna Earle Odom on July 21, 1951 in Andalusia, AL.
He worked in the Engineering Departments at International Paper Company, Rust Engineering and Bowater Southern Paper Company which he retired from in 1994.
Emmett especially loved his family, his church and his Auburn Tigers.
He was a member of his childhood church, Mt. Zion Methodist in Straughn, AL and Methodist Churches in Tennessee. Emmett was a certified Lay leader and taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees throughout the years.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Edna Earle, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Karen (Ted), Lyn (Ian), Jennifer (Trey), Colin (Cierra), Chase (Jace), Chelsea (Jacob), Emily, Anna Claire (Johnathan) and Madison.
Preceding Emmett in death are: his daughter, Debra, his parents, Henry and Emma Bell and his five siblings, Wilma, Bryan, Mary, Caroline and Joyce.
Visitation will be held on November 15, 2025 from 10-11 am and a Celebration of Life will follow at 11am at Foreman-Brown-Service Funeral Home Andalusia, AL. Graveside service will follow at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Straughn, AL.
