Emmitt Thacker Obituary
Emmitt Thacker, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on July 26, 1948, in Pikeville, Kentucky, where he spent his life creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Emmitt is survived by his wife, Roxie Lee Thacker; his children Emmitt (Leslie) Thacker, Jessica (Robert) Helvey, and Elizabeth (Joshua) Damron; along with his brothers Robert Thacker Jr. and Gary Thacker. He also leaves behind his sisters Virginia Conway, Loretta Thacker, Phyllis Kendrick, and Gail Thacker. Each of them will carry cherished memories of Emmitt, who was a source of love and support to all. Emmitt leaves behind several grandchildren who loved him dearly: Nathaniel Helvey, Erica Thacker, Reilley Damron, Isabella Thacker, Emmitt Ian Thacker, Jackson Thacker, and Samuel Thacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Velma Thacker; his son, Eric Shannon Thacker; and his sister, Mindy Lou Thacker.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US Highway 23 S, Pikeville, KY 41501. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM, at the same location. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
Emmitt Thacker's spirit and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made privately in support of Emmitt's grandchildren's college fund.
