Enid Gardner, 91, of Chester, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Valley Oaks Care Center in East Liverpool.
Born on March 8, 1933, in Cambridge, OH, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Enid Kyles Reynolds. Enid was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruby Mullins Reynolds, stepbrother, Jack Mullins, sister-in-laws, Geraldine Gardner and Shirley Gardner, brother in-laws, Bill and Tom Gardner.
A proud graduate of Waterford High School, she was a devout Catholic who served as the secretary at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton, VA, until her retirement. Enid attended member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester. She notably held the position of chairman of library and literature of the Dioceses in Richmond, VA. and participated in the Citizens for Decent Literature, promoting quality literature for children.
She was married to her loving husband, Charles Gardner, for 72 wonderful years, during which they raised their son, Charles Paul Gardner. Enid and Chuck shared a passion for showing dogs and raised numerous champions. In later years, they brought joy to nursing homes and hospital residents by visiting with their dogs.
Enid will also be remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Joanne Bonner, and Anita Gardner, along with her nieces Kathy, Carolynn, and Marie, and nephews David Gardner (Nancy) and Steven Gardner (Dawn).
Father Bill Matheny will preside for Catholic Funeral Liturgy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The family will be present at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM when friends are welcome to visit. A rosary will be held at 6:30PM.
