Enrique Lucio Jr of San Benito, TX was 63 years old when he passed away due to complications of metastatic stomach cancer on Monday, October 9th of 2023. Enrique was born on September 10th, 1960 to Enrique and Susana Lucio in Navasota, TX. He was the middle child of nine and spent most of his childhood in the La Gallina Neighborhood of San Benito, TX. Enrique continued the family's military legacy by serving in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from San Benito High School in 1978. Enrique spent most of his career in law enforcement in Dallas, TX, Lyford, TX, San Benito, TX, and Denver, CO.
As a steadfast Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a game and never failed to share his expert opinion on what his team could have done better to secure the win. Enrique was a treasure-trove of factoids on a wide array of subjects from classic rock to cars, sports, history, and current events. Anyone who knew him would also remark on his fighting spirit, boisterous sense of humor, hard-headed nature, and his unwavering love for his children, Anthony (Colleen), Daniel, and Christina Lucio.
Enrique is additionally survived by the mother of his children, Bonnie Lucio; grandchild, Cecilia Lucio; his mother, Susana Lucio; sisters, Elena Garza (Lupe), Gloria Amador (Carlos), Elida Mendoza (Fred); brothers, Gilbert Lucio (Lourdes), Eddie Lucio, Eloy Lucio (Melinda), as well as his many nephews and nieces.
His spirit now rests with his father, Enrique Lucio Sr.; sister, Paulina Bejarano; brother, Eulogio Lucio; and nephew, Ernesto Bejarano Jr.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.
