Eric Risom Baer, 69, went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2022, at his Morganville, NJ home with his wife of 45 years, Kim, by his side. He was born in Long Branch, NJ in 1953 and graduated from Matawan High School in 1971, he resided in Morganville, NJ for the last 29 years.
Eric's life was significantly defined by his love for his family and faith in Jesus. He had a tireless work ethic and indelible character and integrity, though he was never defined by his work. Instead, Eric's focus was providing for his family and his love-fueled-self-sacrifice helped provide a beautiful home and opened doors for advanced education for both his children that he did not have.
Eric recommitted to his faith in Jesus in the middle of his life and became a member of First Baptist Church of Matawan for the last 24 years, eventually going on to serve as Chairman of the boards of Deacons and Trustees and as Church Treasurer. More than this, Eric was committed to faithfully living a life of following Jesus to the best of his ability. He cared deeply for his local church and the people in it. He served others in need at Renovation House in Perth Amboy for many years. Eric also played Santa Clause at Little People at Work Preschool in Neptune, bringing great joy to many children in need.
He is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Louise Baer, and his sister, Susan Baer.
He is survived by his wife Kim Baer, son and daughter-in-law Jason and Abigail Baer, daughter, Kelley Baer, grandsons, Calvin and Elijah Baer; sister, Christina Baer-Arter, and nephew, Kiran Arter.
A private gathering and burial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
