It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Eric Lance Drapeau, born October 7, 1980, in Ocala, Florida. Known for his charismatic personality, witty humor, and supportive nature, Eric left a memorable impression on all who knew him. A resident of Jasper county for the past nine years, Eric was a beloved father, son, and a cherished friend. He passed away on December 25, 2024.
Eric was a smart and dedicated man, holding prestigious jobs at Ducommun and Eagle Pitcher. His love for learning led him to earn a Master's in Business at St. Leo University. He was a proud member of the Yankton Sioux tribe and the VFW in Carthage, reflecting his deep commitment to his culture and his service to his country. As a decorated Army veteran, Eric served his nation with honor for eight years. In his leisure time, Eric enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Charlie, cooking, fishing, listening to 90's grunge and punk-rock music, being outdoors, reading, and indulging in his vast collection of watches.
Eric is survived by his mother, Sandra Drapeau; his children, Anthony Drapeau, Sierra Drapeau, and Jimmy Cotero; his grandson, Nikolas Cotero; his daughter-in-law, Kara Macri; a niece Autumn, and his ex-wife and mother of his three children, Melissa Drapeau. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Drapeau and his sister, Cara Drapeau. What mattered most to Eric were his three children, grandchild, and his dog, Charlie. He was deeply concerned about social injustices of the world and was a strong advocate for accessible education.
The visitation will take place on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at 4pm, followed by the funeral service at 5pm at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
