Eric Neal Griggs

Eric Neal Griggs, a gifted young man born on March 23, 1970, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away on March 31, 2025. Eric was known for his diverse talents and his love for life. He was a dedicated individual with a remarkable affinity for computers, a passion for playing poker, and an especially cherished skill in cooking.

A  1988 graduate of North Gaston High School, Eric furthered his education at Appalachian State University, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in psychology. His academic journey did not end there, as he subsequently earned a degree in computer science along with a minor in music and was a proud Eagle Scout. Eric was a fun-loving person who demonstrated that he could achieve anything he set his mind to, which endeared him to many.

Eric had a special bond with his dog, Winston, and his love for his furry friend highlighted his compassionate nature. He leaves behind his beloved family who will remember him for his warmth and zest for life.

He is survived by his parents, Walt and Nan Adams Griggs; his brother, Benjamin Griggs (Jennifer); his nieces and nephew, Zachary Griggs (Courtney), Ashley Griggs (Charles Hester), Bailey Griggs, Lauren Smith (Dallas Kennedy), and Lindsay Smith. He also is survived by his great nieces and nephews, Carson, Emma, Marlee, and Kinslee; his special Aunt, Margaret McCulloch; his uncles and aunts, Fred and Reba Adams, Myra and Scott Rehrig, Tommy Beaver; and cousins, Andy Robinson, Lee and Miranda Adams, Amy and Jason Beauregard, Katie and Michael Cuellar, Susan and Scottie Rehrig, special friends, Sherry Provost, Charlie and Lisa Hutson Alongside these loved ones, Eric's memory will be honored by many other great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Eric was predeceased by his grandparents, Vinson and Dixie Griggs, Fred and Frances Adams, who are now joined by him in eternal peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, North Carolina, beginning at 3:00 PM in the Chapel. A visitation is scheduled for the same day, following the service at the same location. Those who knew and loved Eric are encouraged to join in commemorating the life of a remarkable individual whose spirit will surely live on in the hearts of those he touched.
