Eric Hauger Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 14, 2025.
Eric Hauger of Wilmington, Delaware graced the world with his presence on January 31, 1948, and left us at age 77 on August 9, 2025. He died in the home he loved and had lived in most of his life.

Eric is survived by his sister Melissa Hauger Moss and her husband Lawrence Moss, and nephew Jeffrey Moss and his wife Alexandra Moss, all residing in California. He is also survived by several cousins on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, including one who shared his exact date of birth (Nancy Robertson).

He was predeceased by his parents, Carl E. W. Hauger Sr., and Doris F. Hauger, as well as brothers Carl E. W. Hauger Jr. and Paul M. Hauger.

Eric was a natural computer whiz, building his own personal computer from a kit. He was an avid football fan (Go Eagles! Go University of Delaware!) and enjoyed watching baseball and soccer. He maintained an extensive collection of classical music and movies.

Many hours of laughter were spent around the pinochle table with family. As a boy, he helped his mother transplant a pine tree from her family farm in Witipquin, Maryland. It now towers over all the other trees in the neighborhood. Although he wasn't a traveler, he could count on his sister to visit and disrupt his routine, sharing memories and stories of her own adventures. There was not a mean bone in the body of our gentle giant. We will miss him.

We would like to thank his neighbors who have helped him and showed him kindness over the years: Kathy, Judy, Richard, Tom, Ed, and Sue.

A private graveside service is pending.
