Eric John Helfrich, long time resident of Rodgers Forge, passed away on July 8, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 59. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jennifer Helfrich, son Gregory Eric Helfrich and daughter Lillian Theresa Helfrich, his brother Evan Helfrich, sister in law Christine Koth (Lisa Nobile), brother in law Theodore Koth (Sacia Jerome), stepmother Mei Peng Helfrich, niece Cecilia, nephew Axel, extended family, including the Hokula family, the Roche family and the Kerins family, dear friends Chuck Gonnermann, Pete Karl (Lisa), Bob Dewey (Leslie LaBrecque) and many others, dogs Beyla and General Patton and grand-cat Arlo.
Eric was a graduate of Loyola Blakefield, Loyola University, University of Baltimore Law School, and Towson University. Eric was passionate about music, an avid concert lover, played his many guitars daily and recently enjoyed playing jazz chord melodies. Eric was excellent at fixing and building things, from repairing all of our cars, intricate woodworking, restoration and maintenance in and outside the home, to complex programming and software design. Eric was CTO of Affirmx, LLC and a member of the Baltimore and Washington D.C. Bar Associations.
Eric was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor, with a witty sense of humor and a loving, giving heart. Eric used his many talents to help in any way he could and touched the lives of countless people in positive and meaningful ways. The expert care and caring provided by St. Joseph's Hospital Cardiac Surgery Unit provided comfort and compassion.
A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road (Beltway Exit 26) on Tuesday, June 16, 2024 at 10am. The interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit on Monday from 4:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Daraja Education Fund (Daraja.org) in memory of Eric.
