Eric Hobbs, a devoted husband, father, and firefighter, leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his family, community, and fellow firefighters. Born in Tampa, Florida, and raised in Houston, he graduated from Dobie High School before earning an associate's degree in Applied Science from San Jacinto College Central. His passion for firefighting took root early in life, inspired by a neighbor and the firefighters at Station 70 on Beamer Road, near his childhood home. He never wavered in his desire to serve, eventually joining Class 34 of the Houston Fire Department, where he built a fulfilling career that brought him both purpose and pride.
Eric loved being a firefighter. He embraced the camaraderie and brotherhood of the fire service, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. He was always eager to talk about what happened at work and the people he helped. One of his fondest memories was his first call, where he rescued a kennel of newborn puppies-an early example of the heart and dedication he brought to the job each day. He loved that each shift was different, and he took immense pride in serving his community, never losing sight of the responsibility that came with the job.
While firefighting was his professional calling, Eric's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Deena and a loving father to Camryn and Cole. He never missed a chance to support his children, whether cheering them on at soccer games, tumbling and gymnastics competitions, attending Boy and Girl Scout events, or planning family camping trips. He found true happiness on the water, wakeboarding, water skiing, and riding in his boat - always sharing those experiences with his children. He loved anything related to Star Wars and would spend countless hours building Legos with Cole. At home, Eric was the heart of the family, cooking and grilling and preparing extra food so the family had meals when he was working. He always put family first, making sure all needs were met. He also cherished time with his nephews, John, David, and James, playing games and making memories they will hold onto forever.
Eric is survived by his wife, Deena; his children, Camryn and Cole; his father, Thomas Hobbs; his sister, Lisa Nava, and her husband, Christopher; his nephews, John, David, and James Nava; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Hobbs; grandparents Claud Roy and Freda Hobbs; and E.T. and Louise Vaughn.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Eric's fire family in Houston and Magnolia and their many friends and loved ones for their unwavering support.
