Eric Conrad Mayers

Eric Conrad Mayers, 50, passed away on February 13, 2023, surrounded by family by his side and lovingly embraced by his many friends and family members from afar.
Eric leaves behind two children, Simon Joseph and Zoe Amelia who he adored with all of his heart and remains endlessly proud of, and his wife of 19 years, Michele who was by his side for so many wonderful adventures and good times, his beloved canines, Rascal and Bert, and feline friend, Sugar. Eric's battle with cancer was far shorter than anyone could have ever imagined, and while all who loved him are at a loss, all are determined to approach each day going forward with the same gusto and enthusiasm that he did.
Eric also leaves behind his father and stepmother, Leo and Karen Mayers of Shrewsbury, PA; mother and stepfather, Linda and Glen Barbe of LaPorte, TX; grandmother, Dorothy "Nan" Whittle; brother, Tyson Mayers (Merle); nephew, Tyson Mayers, Jr. (Miranda); step-siblings, Randy (Marie) Barbe, Lori (Barry) Barbe. As self-named, "Uncle Fun," Eric was always the life of the party. His mother and father-in-law, Richard and Judy Phlipot of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, David Phlipot of Roanoke, VA; sisters-in-law, Brenda Phlipot of Roanoke, VA, Sharon (Roger) Cypriano of Wesley Chapel, FL and Ally Phlipot (Lance Patrick) of Tampa, FL; nieces and nephews, Anne, Alex, Amanda, Erin, Patrick, Keely, Marcie, Jon and Addy miss him terribly.
In addition, he is also survived by his many friends in Tampa who are his family, and his school and faith communities at Holy Trinity and St. Xavier, his CRHP brothers and HT Archery families. Thank you to all who showered the family with love, support, and prayers throughout his fight. We are forever grateful.
Eric's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Eric's memory by spending time with a friend. Go fishing. Befriend an old dog. Pick up a guitar or any instrument and play. Listen to an old album that takes you back, re-read a book from your youth, help someone who doesn't have the strength to ask, be gentle with people who are hurting, make someone grumpy smile. Wake up early and enjoy the stillness. Give a hug with your whole heart, or if you are feeling up to it, a bear hug, as Eric would say. And enjoy all the little moments. They are the best.
