Eric Meck

The world has lost a good man – much too early.
Eric A. Meck, a loving husband and father, passed away on April 13, 2025 at the age of 45 after a courageous and determined battle with cancer.
Eric was surrounded by his wife, Katherine (Ernesto) Meck, the love of his life and best friend, and other family and friends when he died peacefully while under hospice care at the Reading Hospital.
In addition to Kate, Eric is survived by their children McKenna and Tanner, who he adored; his parents, Richard and Karen (Waszk) Meck; and two siblings Jonathan and Ryan Meck. He is also survived by in-laws; John and Sue Ernesto and "sister" Ann (Ernesto) Snyder.
After graduating from Gov. Mifflin High School in 1998, Eric went on to study horticulture and received a degree from Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. He was a dedicated employee at Paragon Landscaping Corporation in Norristown.
Eric's hobby was simply enjoying quality time with Kate, McKenna, and Tanner – attending McKenna's dancing and playing field hockey events, and Tanner's baseball and basketball games.
The demands of his work, especially during the busy spring and summer months, and the commute sometimes made it challenging for Eric to make it to the kid's events on time. But he was determined -- and he always made it.
There was the time when Eric was running late for McKenna's dance recital. No time to drive home and change.
So, Eric, while enroute, stopped at a Target and purchased appropriate clothes, washed up and changed in the restroom, and made it to the recital -- on time.
Eric was a quiet guy. But he had a dry sense of humor that made his wide circle of friends laugh when they all were hanging out enjoying life -- and a beer -- at the pool parties Kate and Eric hosted.
Despite the health challenges and lengthy hospital stays, Eric somehow managed to maintain his sense of humor, joking daily with the nursing staff and with visiting family and friends.
Eric also cherished family vacations to the Outer Banks with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Care Team on floor C100 at Reading Hospital for their love and care for Eric during his almost three months at the facility. Thank you to Tower Health Hospice and Allison Massey who checked on him daily.
Also, thank you to Dr. Vinti Shah and Dr. Matt Grove for their help in Eric's cancer battle.
The family welcomes you to attend a celebration of Eric's life on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 4 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. Friends and family may gather from 1 p.m. until the start of the service.
