Eric Douglas Movalson

Eric Movalson, 61, of Byron, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025.

Born on May 30, 1964, in St. Ignace, Michigan, Eric grew up in the small town of Brevort, where

he developed his lifelong love for the outdoors and the beauty of northern Michigan. He

attended LaSalle High School and earned his bachelor's degree in Sales and Marketing at

Ferris State University.

After college, Eric built a career of more than three decades in the steel industry, earning the

respect and friendship of many through his expertise and genuine care. He worked with Central

Steel and Wire, A.M. Castle Metals, and spent nearly 25 years at Peerless Steel before joining

Service Steel in 2022, continuing to build lasting relationships.

Beyond his career, family, friends, and faith were at the center of Eric's life. He was formerly

married to Kelli Movalson, with whom he shared many joyful years and cherished memories.

Together, they raised two children, Amanda Movalson and Zachary Movalson, who were the

pride of his life.

Eric had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and an adventurous spirit. He loved hunting,

trapping, fishing, golfing, and playing hockey. He was proud to coach youth football for several

seasons, mentoring young athletes both on and off the field. He also enjoyed watching his little

cousin's youth sports, cooking and baking, and had a deep love of dogs-especially his black

lab, Penny, whom he was training for duck hunting in his final years. Eric loved watching TV

shows, movies and sports. He was a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois (Heenan) Movalson and David Movalson. He is

survived by his children, Amanda Movalson and Zachary Movalson; his siblings, Tracy

Movalson and David Movalson Jr.; and numerous loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Those who knew Eric will remember not only his strength, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for

life, but also the kindness, encouragement, and loyalty he showed to the people around him. His

legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who loved him.

Visitation will be held at Palmer, Bush & Jensen Funeral Home (Delta Chapel) in Lansing, on

Friday, August 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran

Church in Brevort at a later date to be determined.
