Eric Pompa was born on August 24, 1993, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to Saul Pompa, Jr. and Lynn Laursen. He was raised in Lakehills, Texas, where he spent his childhood enjoying the then-full waters of Medina Lake and building a life rooted in sports, community, and family.
A proud athlete, Eric played football, baseball, basketball, and briefly competed on the Bandera High School tennis team. One of his favorite memories was being part of the 2004 San Antonio Wolverines Pee Wee Football team, participating in the National Championship Tournament that year. He also attended Spurs Basketball Camp for many summers, a highlight of his youth.
Eric graduated from Bandera High School in 2011. He lived and worked in Bandera and San Antonio before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, in October 2014. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he continued to play softball, basketball, and golf throughout his adult life.
At the time of his passing, Eric had recently relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he had accepted a new position as Senior Quality Manager with Ames Construction. His life was tragically cut short in a motor vehicle accident on May 16, 2025, in Troutman, North Carolina.
Eric is survived by the love of his life, Breyanna Coleman, and their beautiful daughter, Harper Marie Pompa. He is also survived by his mother, Lynn Laursen, and stepfather, Jeff Laursen; his father, Saul Pompa, Jr., and Yvette Cavazos; his brother, Daniel Pompa and wife Brittany; along with many step-siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, and second cousins from both the Mueller and Pompa families. Eric was known for his deep compassion, loyalty, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen, important, and loved. He leaves behind countless friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
His life will be celebrated in two separate events. June 14, 2025, at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, Boerne, TX at 10:00 AM and on June 21, 2025, in Provo, Utah. Contributions may be made to support Brey and Harper and may be directed to any family member.
