Eric Blake Smith, 56, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home. He was born January 11, 1970 in Owensboro, to Linda Smith Hatcher, and the late Elton Smith. Eric enjoyed reading scientific literature, playing video games, playing cards (especially euchre), and listening to hard rock music. Eric was a very intelligent man, as he once qualified for the TV gameshow “JEOPARDY”. He attended his son Elton’s athletic events when he could, and had a special friend in his cat, Jelly.
Along with his mother, Eric is survived by his son, Elton Smith of Owensboro; half-sisters, Kristie Lamb (Karl) of Pflugerville, TX, Pat Halk, Debbye (Paul) Elledge, and half-brother, Elton “Bennie” Smith all of Jonesboro, AR.
A private family service has been planned.
