With deepest sorrow, we announce that Eric Drew Tatum, 34, a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024, in
Cropwell, AL.
Eric is survived by his beautiful wife Jessica Peifer, loving parents Zach and Robin Tatum, his brother Kyle Tatum (Jami), and his 3 nephews Noah, Andy, and Jamison Tatum who will miss their "Uncle E" dearly. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Linda Locke (nanny), in-laws David Peifer, Maria Peifer, James Dill, and Allison Peifer, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carl Locke, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Tatum, his paternal aunt, Michelle Tatum Bryce Bennett and paternal cousin Grace Hesters.
From elementary to high school, Eric loved and played sports with a passion for football and baseball. He was privileged to be part of the Brookwood Broncos youth football team, coached by Ronnie Benton from ages 7 to 13. Over the years, the coaches, team members, and families built a special bond like no other. This team was passionate about the game (5 county championships) but also passionate for one another. The Benton's Broncos family will forever be in our hearts.
Eric was a 2008 graduate of Brookwood High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Alabama. In college, he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity where Eric built lifelong relationships with his fraternity brothers and loved Crimson Tide football game days. In addition to college football, Eric was also passionate about his beloved Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons.
After graduating from college, Eric spent several years in
Dallas, TX before returning home to Georgia. He spent the majority of his career working in the Logistics Industry as an Account Executive. He met the love of his life, Jessica, in 2018. They shared a love of music, laughter, fun times with friends and most importantly, a fierce love for each other. They married in May, 2023 and were fortunate to have had 5+ years of beautiful memories together which included love for their dog, Luna.
Eric's journey was marked by an unwavering passion for life. He had a love of music and loved to make others laugh. He loved his family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by them. He had kind heart, quick wit, and could light up a room. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything (especially sports). This was his gift and was something he inherited from his nanny, which he shared a unique and special bond with.
A service to celebrate Eric's life will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 pm at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, located at 300 Simonton Rd, Lawrenceville GA 30046. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Following the service, Eric will be laid to rest at the Snellville Historic Cemetery joining his paw-paw.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations in his honor that will be placed into "Uncle E's Education Fund" to support his nephew's college education. Eric loved his nephews deeply and this is a way for them to remember his legacy.
Eric's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life, though short, was a testament to the impact one individual can have on so many lives he touched.
Rest in peace, sweet Eric, your memory will forever be a source of inspiration and joy to all who know you.
