Eric Jason Wells, age 54, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born in 1970 in Livonia, Michigan, with parents Donald and Carole Wells. Eric attended Divine Child Elementary and High School in Dearborn, Michigan, and graduated in 1989. He attained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western Michigan University in 1994 and matriculated to the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University, graduating in 1998.
Eric is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Margaret A. Wells (Tucker); four children, Evan, Caroline, Ryan, and Erin; his mother Carole K. Wells (Burwitz); his parents-in-law Joseph L. Tucker and Theresa C. Tucker (Kakaley); his siblings, Kristen Browning (wife of Henry), Michael Wells, and Susan Latour (wife of Daniel); as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Eric is preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Wells.
Eric met the love of his life and future wife, Margaret, in first grade at Divine Child Elementary School. They continued being great friends throughout high school and reconnected in college. After pursuing their advanced degrees, they married on October 3, 1998, in Dearborn where they met.
Eric and Margie built a beautiful family rooted in their Catholic faith. They believed their children's successes were theirs, far beyond their academic prowess. They aspired to raise great human beings with compassion for others, empathy, grit, and a strong sense to make the world better than they found it. Eric remains with his family through his love of the University of Michigan and University of Notre Dame college football, appreciation of 10-mile bike rides, and dedication on the tennis court.
Above all, Eric treasured his family and adored his children. He will be remembered with heavy hearts by his children each time they grab a fishing pole, catch sand dollars in the ocean, (attempt to) go surfing, or enjoy the great outdoors. Eric was determined to tackle any home improvement project and always challenged himself to expand his toolbox of skills, a mindset he imparted unto his children.
Eric took great pride in his independent law practice, where he developed a wealth of expertise in estate planning, trust administration, special needs planning, and his genuine care for the people around him. He had an undeniable arrogance that perfectly matched his brilliance, and his clients appreciated his confidence and skill in navigating their most important legal decisions. Eric's legacy is one of professionalism, compassion, and a resolute commitment to helping others. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him as a son, brother, husband, dad, colleague, or friend.
