Eric Brian Wheeler

Eric B. Wheeler, 83, passed away January 8, 2026, at his home in Carlisle, PA surrounded by loving family members. 

Born July 13, 1942, in Reading, England, he was the son of the late Percival and Mavis (White) Wheeler. Eric was a 1963 graduate of London University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in engineering. In 1968 he began working as a mechanical engineer for General Electric (Schenectady, NY) until retiring in 2005. 

Surviving Eric is his wife of almost 60 yrs, Olwen (Fielding) Wheeler; children; Paul Wheeler (Kerry) and Rosalind Mayfield (Charles); sister; Pamela Smith and grandchildren; Erin, Max, Isy and Evan. 

He was a gifted piano player; his talent brought much joy to those around him. He also enjoyed playing golf and taking long walks in the woods. Eric was a true “English Gentleman”; he had a generous and selfless demeanor that will be greatly missed. 

A celebration of life will be held at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd. Carlisle, PA 17013, Friday, January 16, 2026. There will be an open visitation from 2PM - 3PM followed by a memorial service at 3PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making a memorial contribution in his honor to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital or to Amedisys Hospice Care.
