Eric Joseph Wisner August 6, 1979 to June 2, 2025
Eric was born in Englewood, Colorado but lived most of his life in Lakewood. St. Anthony Hospital
diagnosed our Eric with terminal cancer near the end of October 2024 and shortly after this he was admitted into home hospice care. Moving back to his childhood home
was a blessing because it gave him more time with his family and time to reconnect with old
friends. On June 1st his illness caused the need to be transferred to inpatient Hospice. Eric was
surrounded by family when he passed the following day.
Eric graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1998. Due to Eric's larger-than-life and
mischievous personality, he received the nickname of "Weazel." Later in life he was known fondly as "Wiz". His
wit and fun nature drew people to him. He even performed as an unofficial mascot at several GMHS
basketball games. Eric loved sports, especially soccer, Kobe Bryant, his LA Lakers and the CU Buffs
from the 90's to Coach Prime.
He was very talented with words and wrote and published a poetry book. He was working on his second poetry book when he passed. He also wrote
and produced an LP of his rap music. To support his passions Eric was a server, first at Red Lobster,
followed by the Rolling Hills Country Club and for the last several years at West 29th Restaurant
which Eric considered his second family.
Throughout the years, Eric enjoyed vacation time with family in Mexico, Illinois, and Florida. He also
loved going with friends and family to Las Vegas. One of his favorite pet phrases was "I'm going to meander." That may have meant gambling or going back to his hotel room to sleep. His
favorite time of year was Christmas. He LOVED Christmas. He made every Christmas special with numbered, hand-wrapped gifts that were always well thought-out and put together with humor and care.
Eric had a wonderful posse of friends from school and
work. There are so many, but to name a few; Cory, Sugar, Noodles, Paul and Dave.
Eric loved his pets. He had several years with two cats named, Icarus and Evie and a great dog
named Apollo. His current dog and best buddy Kobe, now resides with good friend Matt a/k/a
Noodles.
Eric was lovingly greeted in heaven by great grandmother Mimi, grandparents Al and Nancy Taylor
and cousin Casey Farmer. Eric is survived by his parents, Linda and Chuck Wisner, brother Mitch
Wisner, sister Devon Hayes and her husband/brother-in-law Cody Hayes, his much adored two nephews Connor and
Cameron Hayes, aunt and uncle Holly and Jeff Farmer and cousin Travis Farmer and family along with great aunts and many more cousins.
His passing has left a large hole in our lives. He was brave in the midst of an awful illness and always tried to stay positive. He cherished the times he had with family and friends in his battle with cancer. Eric left us way too soon and will live on in our hearts
forever. He will always be remembered for his kind and generous soul.
