Erik Dobay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hays Funeral Home - Northborough on Jan. 3, 2026.
NORTHBOROUGH
With heavy hearts and deep love, we remember a remarkable man whose presence filled every room with laughter, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of joy. He was dad who loved his daughters Tatyana, Bryana & Mackenzie Dobay fiercely and proudly. A generous friend to so many whom he would give the shirt off his back. He was a loving husband to Catherine Dobay. His greatest happiness was being surrounded by the people he loved most.
He lived life with heart and humor. Some of his happiest moments were simple yet unforgettable- taking a great car ride in his beloved Chevelle or on his motorcycle, a vodka soda in hand (no fruit, ever) or soaking in the joy of a sunny day. He could just as easily be found cheering passionately for Kenzie on the court or an Alabama football game, locked into a thrilling UFC fight, or laughing out loud at a funny movie that caught him just right.
His goofy, loving character was truly one of a kind. He had a way of making people feel welcome, seen, and at ease, often through a joke, a story, or that unmistakable laugh that made everything feel okay. He loved deeply, laughed often, and lived fully.
He will be missed beyond words, but his spirit lives on through his incredible gift of organ donation. Even in his last hours he gave all he could and changed the lives of 5 people who will forever have a piece of him. He will always be present in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever ride with us, steady and strong, in our hearts and in our lives.
In addition to his daughters and wife, he leaves the mother of his two eldest daughters Andrea Dobay, his mother Bernice Lee, his brother Mark Dobay & wife Stacey, as well as his sister-in-law Jessica Butler and her husband John. He also leaves his brother-in-law Tyson Hight along with his best buddy and father-in-law Allen Hight. Lastly his cherished nieces and nephews Olivia, Blake, Sam, Max, Maddie and honorary family Lexi, Kyleigh and Jagger. Erik was predeceased by his sister Lynn Dobay, stepfather Bob Lee and mother-in-law Marie Hight.
We will have a celebration of life to celebrate when the weather is warmer, and we can enjoy the type of day outside that he loved so much. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a fund set up to support the Dobay girls https://gofund.me/153ae19f8

Erik was a longtime sponsor of the Kidde Fenwal American Cancer Society car show , he was always willing to lend a helping hand to assure the success of the car show to raise money for American Cancer Society .
But his generosity didn´t stop at the car show , it extended to every single person that walked into his shop .
Going to miss you big time old friend and thanks for all you have done for me, my family and my friends !! Rest in peace , the car show will not be the same without you !!

Erik you really were a good dude and it was a pleasure to know you. I always enjoyed our interactions & conversations when I was in the car business and would come see you. You did very well in business and for your family and you lived a very very good life even though it was way too short.

Erik was a kind soul that made people feel good and would brighten any room just by his presence. I cherish the fond memories of him being a good friend and neighbor, mountain biking, volleyball, Suburban Athletic, Ebenezer's, boating, and just hanging around together. Generous to the end, he made the world a better place.
