Erin Johns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care - Des Moines on Aug. 12, 2025.
Erin Nicole Johns, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Des Moines. Born on August 22, 1979, in Des Moines and raised in Milo, Iowa, Erin was a vibrant spirit whose warmth and love touched the lives of all who knew her. A proud graduate of Southeast Warren High School, Erin belonged to the class of 1998. After completing her education, she dedicated herself to raising her family while successfully working in the food services industry. Her capacity for nurturing those around her was unparalleled, and she found joy in serving others while pursuing her passions. Erin cherished the moments spent with her children, Kennedy Johns, Mariah Mickens, Shalanece Mickens, and Erasha Mickens. Family was the center of her world, and she embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories. Her love for them was profound, evident in the laughter shared and the stories exchanged during gatherings filled with joy. As a daughter, Erin will be remembered fondly by her mother, Mary Johns. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Jamie (James) Starks, Tyler Johns, Tanner Johns, and Zachary (Stacy) Johns. She is also survived by her grandpa Bill Bryant and aunt Vicky (Dale) Filley. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and together they forged bonds that will endure beyond physical presence. To her special niece, Dajonna Lee, she was not just an aunt but a cherished confidante and friend. Erin's interests were as diverse and lively as her personality. She found delight in spending time with her family and friends, sharing her love for music, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, often imagining the thrill of victory alongside her loved ones. The excitement of visiting the casino added a splash of adventure to her life, reflecting her adventurous spirit and zest for living fully in each moment. Though her father, Les Johns, and grandmothers, Mary Bryant and Sheila Mickens, have passed, Erin's legacy continues through the love and memories they shared. Those who knew Erin will forever hold her generous heart and vibrant laugh close, cherishing the impact of her kindness and warmth. The void left by Erin's departure is profound, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her children, family, and friends. As we remember Erin Nicole Johns, let us celebrate her life, the love she gave, and the beautiful memories that she gifted to all of us. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
