Erma Carlene "Carlene" Wilson

Erma Carlene Wilson, 79 years old, of Pampa, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Amarillo. She was born on December 6, 1944, in Larned, Kansas to Carl and Mabel Wilson.
After graduating from Kinsley High School in 1962, Carlene remained in Kinsley and started what would be her lifelong career as a teller of Farmers Bank & Trust. Over the years, she worked her way through the ranks from teller to loan officer and eventually Branch Manager until her retirement. Carlene never sat still! Even after her retirement – she was always working on things that needed tending to.
Having a tremendous love for the outdoors, she fervently worked in her flowerbeds and gardens and always had the greenest, most lush lawn in the neighborhood. God blessed her with a green thumb most could only hope for. When not toiling in the soil, Carlene might simply be sitting at her sewing machine, making crafts or she could be using her skills in carpentry and woodworking.
Although she was never idle, Carlene was very simple, kind and very well liked by others. She, in turn, knew no strangers and had a heart of gold. None could have loved her grandkids or been any prouder. Carlene loved her KU basketball team, but nothing topped the grandkids sports events! She tried to make it to all their games and support them as much as she could.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Wilson and sister-in-law, Charlene Wilson.
She leaves behind to cherish wonderful memories a daughter, Christy Johnson and husband Craig of Pampa; son, Cory Halling and wife Christina of St. John, KS; brother, Willis Wilson of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Jerry, Collin, Tanner, Austin and wife Jonae, Jordyn, Clayton, Carson; three great-grandchildren, Lola, Kinsler, and Kaizlee not to mention numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family who all miss her.
Celebration of Life Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Hi-Land Christian Church with Pastor Mike Sublett officiating.
