Ernest Barth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cotner Funeral Home on May 1, 2025.
Ernest "Gene", 74, was born in Elyria, Ohio to Ernest A and Agnes M Barth. The Lord called him home on Sunday April 27, 2025.
After graduation from Midview High School, Gene enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed basic training in San Diego, California. After additional schooling as a helicopter co-pilot and mechanic, he was assigned to Lakehurst, New Jersey and spent 2 Tours of Duties overseas and was honorably discharged.
Gene married Barbara Lynn Barth nee Yaeger in 1973 and remained married until 1982. In November 2007 Gene and Barbara remarried and remained married until his death.
Gene was a lifelong mechanic both professionally and for enjoyment. He worked several different jobs over the year as a mechanic. He owned his own independent forklift repair company in California for 12 years. When in his teens and 20s he enjoyed working on stock cars that raced in the local circuit. He also had the opportunity to be the home base mechanic for nationally recognized funny car driver Don Johnson with the Beachcomber. He continued to be an avid fan of both NASCAR and NHRA.
Gene is survived by his wife of 27 years Barbara Barth; their children, Heather Barth and Michael (Carrie)Barth; sister, Suzanne Barth; grandchildren, Noah Barth, Abigail Barth and Hannah Barth and several nieces.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Agnes Barth and his brother, Edward Barth.
Gene's family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11:00am at Reynoldsburg Community Church, 1636 Graham Rd. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 with Pastor Bill Weaver and Pastor John Pierce officiating. The family will greet friends at Reynoldsburg Community Church beginning at 10:30am.
