WATERBURY – Ernest “Ernie” Welton, age 67 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Ernie was born on October 4, 1956, in Waterbury, the son of the late Ernest Pratt and Patrica (Johnston) Welton. He was educated in local schools and began his career with the City of Waterbury. He then went on to work for Bozzuto’s and finally as a sales representative for John Hayes and Son and Pepsi-Cola until he became disabled and was no longer able to work. He enjoyed bartending at many establishments in the Waterbury area and was a bowler at Sena's Bowling Lanes in Waterbury. An avid NY Yankees and Minnesota Vikings fan, Ernie was a loyal friend to many. If you were lucky enough to know Ernie well, you were blessed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to honor his memory are his sisters; Patricia (Steve) Brown and Carol (Kelvin) Williams, his sister-in-law Teresa Pratt and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many loyal friends.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Welton will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
