Ernest Everhart Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 30, 2026.
Ernest Leo Everhart was born on October 23, 1939, and passed away peacefully on

March 27, 2026.

A proud veteran, Ernest honorably served two tours in the United States Navy during

the 1950s and 1960s. Naval service gave Ernest the opportunity to see the world, an

experience that shaped a lifelong appreciation for travel and the sea. Of all the places

visited, the Sea of Japan held special meaning, and Ernest often spoke of a desire to

one day return.

Originally from North Carolina, Ernest left the state in the early 1970s and relocated to

Arizona, settling in the Phoenix area, where Ernest lived for the remainder of life.

Though not especially close to family, Ernest lived independently and on personal

terms, guided by self-reliance, perseverance, and quiet strength.

Ernest spent many years working for Honeywell, where a strong work ethic and

dedication were evident throughout a long career. Ernest retired in 2005, concluding a

professional life marked by consistency and pride in workmanship.

In retirement and free time, Ernest enjoyed reloading and spending time at shooting

ranges, hobbies that reflected patience, precision, and an appreciation for skill and

focus. These pursuits provided enjoyment, routine, and personal satisfaction.

While family ties were limited, Ernest valued friendships formed over the years in the

Phoenix area. Friends provided companionship, shared interests, and a sense of

community, and they remember Ernest as dependable, thoughtful, and genuine.

Ernest Leo Everhart will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery, with honors

reflecting proud service to the United States Navy.
